Medical Research
Weill-Cornell Medical College in Qatar is currently in the process of implementing a five year, comprehensive, world-class biomedical research program. Our plan consists of two mutually reinforcing strategies to develop a sustainable and thriving research program. The first strategy is to build a self-sustaining academic community by training basic, translational, and clinical scientists; and, more generally, by building biomedical research capacity. The second strategy, acting in concert with the first, is to establish strong, notable research programs anchored by two broad research themes:

  1. Genetic & Molecular Medicine.
  2. Women & Children's Health.

Our infrastructure plan includes setting up genomics and proteomics cores, a microscopy core, a computational biology and biostatistics core, and a vivarium. We plan to recruit 18 first-rate scientists with research background in the two broad themes mentioned above. These scientists are expected to attract postdoctoral fellows and other research personnel to assist and train with them. Experienced personnel in research administration, compliance, grants and contracts management, laboratory management, and technical expertise to run the core research facilities will be hired, to facilitate smooth functioning of the research and sponsored projects division.
