Qatar Doctor of the Future Scholarships

The Qatar Doctor of the Future Scholarships are fully funded, two-week, experience-of-a-lifetime visits to Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. To apply for these scholarships, students need to enter the Healing Hands Essay Competition. This is an annual contest offered to students in high schools across Qatar. Each year a different medical theme is announced, and the participating students are asked to share their views about pressing medical issues and provide creative solutions to medical problems.

The winners of the competition visit prominent research laboratories and spend time with distinguished Weill Cornell researchers in major New York hospitals. The scholarships also cover the cost of travel for the winners along with one of their escorting parents.

The winning essays and 10 finalists also receive honorable mentions in a reception hosted by the dean of Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar.

General Terms and Conditions

  • Competition is open to all Qatari nationals currently enrolled in high schools
  • The essay must be the student's original work and written in English
  • The applicants need to fill an online application to submit their essays
  • Proof of nationality and latest school report are needed
