The mission of the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) Foundation Program is intended for academically able, mainly Qatari, students who wish to study medicine but do not yet have the required qualifications to be accepted into the pre-medical program.
The Foundation Program has been developed with the needs of the individual student in mind. Students in the program study basic science subjects required in the Pre-med program in addition to extensive English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. This gives students the opportunity to focus on their primary area of study and prepare them for future study in their chosen field.
Program StructureThe Foundation Program consists of 10 courses intended for students who recently completed high school. Enrolled students must successfully complete five academic courses per semester to graduate from the program. All Foundation units involve ongoing assessment and end-of-semester examinations. To successfully complete the program, students must attain a specific overall grade average.
