Dr. Nour graduated in 1974 from the University of Alexandria in Egypt, obtaining his Master's and Doctorate of Surgery degrees. His basic training was in general and pediatric surgery in Alexandria between 1975 and 1982. Dr. Nour is a member of the British Association of Pediatric Surgeons, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American Association of the Study of Liver Disease, a fellow of the American college of Surgeons and many other professional associations. He is a founding member of the Small Bowel and Multi-visceral transplant team in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Nour began his career with INTEGRIS Health in May of 1994 as Chief of Pediatric Liver Transplantation and Adult Liver Transplant Surgeon. He Led the Transplantation institute as Director and Chairman, for over 5 years. He has taught at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the Oklahoma University School of Medicine and the University of Texas, School of Nursing.

In January 2007, he joined Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar as the vice Chair of the department of Surgery and the director of the Surgery Clerkship. As a consultant of General Surgery in Hamad Medical Corporation, he started a Hepato -Pancreatico -Biliary surgical service and a Liver Transplant Clinic.

His main goal during his tenure in Qatar, in addition to building a strong academic Department of General surgery for the benefit of the WCMC-Q Medical students, is the establishment of a regional multi-organ transplantation institute to complement and culminate the cooperation between HMC and WCMC-Q.
